Accidents and Injuries at Work

Many of our clients have been injured whilst at work.  Some of the injuries have occurred in an accident, others have been injured over  the course of time whilst, for example, lifting heavy or awkward loads.  In all cases, employers have a duty to provide their employees with a safe place and system of work, and when an employee has been injured, we have a proven track record in establishing that the employer is liable to pay compensation.

We appreciate our clients’ concerns about bringing a claim against their employer, and safeguarding their jobs. We are sensitive to this and to the concerns raised by colleagues whose evidence is often valuable in proving these claims about their job security too. We have expertise in obtaining the necessary evidence to prove a claim and to ensure the best results for our clients.

We aim to obtain early interim payments of compensation whilst our clients are unable to work, and to secure the medical treatment and therapies that they need to make as full a recovery as possible.

In many situations our clients are able to return to work after recovery from their injuries but in other cases their injuries prevent them from returning to their former jobs.  For example, one of our clients fell from a height and injured his foot. He could not return to his former job which involved long hours standing and carrying heavy loads.  His former employers paid for him to re-train as a driver of construction vehicles, and compensated for his loss of earnings until he had re-trained and established himself in his new career.

Another client, a carpenter, was injured when the ladder on which he was working fell away from the scaffold and he sustained very serious ankle injuries.  We investigated the possibility of re-training, but throughout his working life our client had worked in the construction industry and wanted to remain working in construction, in a different role. He was therefore compensated on the basis that he was able to set up his own business, he himself could return to some very light work, and employ others to do the heavier tasks.
